News and Updates

Onboarding tasks and references

Please ensure you have engaged with all the onboarding task requests from Teach First. As part of your onboarding, we will need to check the documents you have provided to Teach First in person. We will be in touch soon to let you know how we will do this.

You must provide two references as part of your application. If you are still waiting for one or more references, please chase these ASAP.

Student Finance - deadline May 17

In order to guarantee your student finance application has been processed and funds are available from September, please ensure you have applied by May 17. Applications will still be processed after this point, but you may not have access to funds until after the course begins

Curriculum Spotlight - ITAP 1

Your course starts with two weeks of ‘Intensive training and Practice’ (ITAP 1)

This will consist of seminars delivered by expert teacher educators and will cover key classroom skills such as planning, assessment and classroom culture.

You will also have lots of opportunities to observe teachers and to deconstruct what you observe with a mentor.

You’ll learn discrete classroom techniques and will practice these with your peers in a low stakes environment, before getting involved in lessons.

We will share a timetable and logistics for this element of the course in a coming bulletin.

Rachel’s reflections on this book -

“This was a seminal read for me as an educator. The central ideas about working memory and long term memory really altered my practice, and I reconsidered how I introduced new concepts to pupils”
